Space 03 Update One

By Artur Ciesielski | Challanges

It took about 2 and a half days  to clear the place out.

The built in cabinets were well made. Some of the wood will be repurposed for other projects and Joanna will use  some of it for her art – specifically most of the doors.

The biggest pain was removing some 450 square feet of glued down parquet floor. At first I though I could do it with a scraper. One good hit told me this was a fool errand and off to Home Depot I went to rent a jack hammer.

Even with the jack hammer this was a though job. After finishing the job I felt wasted, tired and even on the next day my body: arms, back hurt from the force and shake.

In the photos below all the stuff is cleared out. The ceilings are painted in white and some of the walls are open to move plumbing around, add/remove electrical contacts.

The bathroom tub and wall surround are staying. I was initially going to put in a shower, but this thing is in good shape so it’s staying and for the purpose it will serve it it will do it’s job well.

The block walls will be covered with drywall.
