An easy day today: lots of downhill singletrack riding and very little climbing. We had a shuttle take up up several times to a high point from which we rode down in to several different towns. Each ride up was about 2,000 meters. It was warm below and cold at the top.
The first photo is the first drop of point.
A short ride down to the actual trail.
And the start of the trail through some wet swampy land.
And this is at the bottom as we were riding into Commune Di Poschiavo. Sounds like Italy, but this was a town in Switzerland, a town where everyone speaks Italian, yet they are Swiss.
Below as we headed out from the second drop off point for a decent into the same town of Poschavio, just via a different trail. It got colder and windier. I like the cold, but with the wind is was chilly. Along this lake of glacial water runs the Bernina train. One of highest running trains.
We had the option of taking the scenic train, but many of the trails we rode actually ran near the train tracks so we go a much better view.
Check out the goats on the wall of this dam. Those are real goats hanging around on the wall. After just a few moments of watching them they all began to run toward us, en masse.
Still descending.
The rock was carved out by the flowing water, creating a stunning scene in the earth.
One of the easy trails at the end and a bit of time to rest the hands as we rode in to the famous ski town of Saint Moritz in Switzerland on the third and last trail yesterday.
The leaning tower of St. Moritz, below.
A glacier as we rode back to Livignio. The glacier has a slight cream tinge in places. That is sand carried in the atmosphere from the Sahara desert in Africa. I find that pretty amazing.
