This is Squaw Peak from the North East. Running a trail I have not run before, I noticed this massive expanse of space at the foot of the peak. The sparse, open and dry space was a bit surprising. I’ve been on it so many times before – in it; not on this elevated trail.

On Saturday and Sunday, it rained for the first time in months. In the afternoon after, once the rain subsided, with some sky peaking through the clouds we hit the trails. The air was fresh, the flora was vibrant and everything smelled wonderful, of a wet desert.
